By accessing or using API.Bible, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the following:
These documents govern your use of the API.Bible service and all licensed Bible content.
Standard License vs. Unique License
Many controlled-access Bible translations are available under a Standard License, as described in the Terms and Conditions.
However, certain Bible translations require a Unique License agreement with the intellectual property (IP) holder. In those cases, additional terms may apply beyond the Standard License.
Before accessing or distributing any Bible content, you are responsible for reviewing and agreeing to the license terms associated with that specific translation.
Commercial vs. Non-Commercial Use
Your applicable agreement depends on whether your application is monetized.
- Commercial Agreement (for monetized applications)
- Non-Commercial Use Agreement (for non-monetized applications)
You must ensure your use case aligns with the correct agreement.
Grant of License & Third-Party Content
Under Section 3 – Grant of License:
API.Bible may provide access to additional content referred to as “Third Party IP Content.”
This content is made available through licensing arrangements with third-party intellectual property holders or organizations (for example, Biblica, Inc.).
If you enter into a license agreement with a third-party IP holder to access content through API.Bible, you agree to comply with:
- API.Bible’s Terms and Conditions, and
- All applicable terms and conditions set by the third-party IP holder.
Your Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Complying with all applicable license agreements
- Following the Acceptable Use Agreement
- Ensuring your application aligns with the correct Commercial or Non-Commercial agreement
- Adhering to all applicable domestic and international laws
Failure to comply may result in review, communication from the API.Bible team, and potential suspension or termination of access.
