How to Use an Express License
API.Bible provides express licensing, allowing your app to use copyrighted Bible versions instantly. In contrast, negotiating directly with publishers for intellectual property rights is often a complex process that can take weeks or months to finalize.
Express licensing is available for both the API.Bible Starter plan and Pro plan. To use express licensing, simply select the Bible(s) during your app setup process.
Express Licensing in Starter Plan
The free Starter plan is for non-commercial use only. In addition to the many Creative Commons and Public Domain Bibles in many languages, you can add up to 3 additional copyrighted Bibles to use. On the web page titled “Customize Your App,” simply click on the plus (“+”) icon on the right to add a Bible:
Please upgrade to the paid Pro plan to use more than 3 copyrighted Bibles in your app and to make more than 5,000 API calls per month.
Express Licensing in Pro Plan
When you subscribe to the paid Pro plan, your app can use express licensing for all the copyrighted Bibles available in API.Bible, in addition to all of the other paid features.
For Non-Commercial Use
Your app is considered non-commercial when it has no ads, paid subscriptions, in-app purchases or revenue. Read the Non-Commercial Use Agreement for more details. There is no additional cost for express licensing of copyrighted Bibles.
For Commercial Use
When your app is revenue-generating, the Commercial Use Agreement governs how the Bibles may be used. Also, the Pro plan will incur an additional cost per copyrighted Bible. The cost will vary by publisher and by the number of end users per month.
The monthly cost per Bible is displayed in the list of “Additional Bibles” after you’ve chosen commercial use and entered the number of end users per month. This is a sample pricing chart for commercial use of Bibles when there are less than 1,000 monthly end users:
When you click on the plus (“+”) icon on the right to add a Bible, the cost will be added to your shopping cart. The pricing chart will automatically update if the number of monthly end users is changed.
