Starter vs. Pro Plan

*Additional licensing fees apply for some translations. Not all translations are available for commercial use.

Starter Plan

The Starter Plan allows developers to use API.Bible on a limited basis at no cost.

What’s Included

• Access to all Open Access Bibles (Creative Commons and Public Domain)
• Optional access to 3 copyrighted Bible translations
• Up to 5,000 API calls per month
• Support for non-commercial applications only

Open Access Bibles include translations available in multiple languages and versions.

API Call Limit

The Starter Plan allows 5,000 API calls per month. If this limit is exceeded, additional API requests will return an error response. To increase your monthly API call allowance, you must upgrade to the Pro Plan.

Non-Commercial Use Requirement

The Starter Plan is strictly for non-commercial use. This means your application or website cannot generate revenue, including:

• Advertisements
• Paid subscriptions
• In-app purchases
• Sponsorships or licensing fees

A good-faith exemption is allowed for minor, non-intrusive links used to receive tithes or donations. For full details, please review the Non-Commercial Agreement.

If your app generates revenue in any way, it is considered Commercial Use and requires upgrading to the Pro Plan.

Pro Plan

The Pro Plan allows developers to use API.Bible with additional capabilities, including:

• Either non-commercial or commercial use
• Access to copyrighted Bible translations
• Higher API call limits
• Optional overage protection

Pro Plan subscriptions start at $29 USD per month and include:

• 150,000 API calls per month
• Access to all Open Access Bibles (Creative Commons and Public Domain)

Adding Copyrighted Bibles

When subscribed to the Pro Plan, you may add copyrighted Bible translations to your application.

To add or remove Bible licenses:

1. Go to your App Dashboard
2. Open the Plan tab
3. Click Edit Plan button to the right
4. Click on Edit Bible Licenses
5. Select the translations you want to add or remove

Licensing Costs

• Non-Commercial Apps: Copyrighted Bibles may be added at no additional cost.
• Commercial Apps: Each copyrighted Bible translation may incur an additional monthly licensing fee.

The cost of each translation may vary depending on:

• Publisher requirements
• Estimated monthly end users

Note: At this time, commercial use of the NIV (New International Version) is not available.

Additional API Calls

The Pro Plan includes 150,000 API calls per month. If your application needs additional usage capacity, you can enable Overage Protection.

By default, your overage limit is 0, which means:

• You will not be billed for additional API calls
• Requests exceeding your limit will return an error response

Adjusting Your Overage Limit

If you expect higher usage, you can increase your overage limit.

Example pricing:

• $1 per 1,000 additional API calls
• Billed in 1,000-call increments

Enterprise Plan

If your application serves more than 150,000 monthly users, you may require a custom API.Bible subscription plan.
