Understanding Commercial Use
Commercial use includes any use of API.Bible, its services, or its content as part of a product or service that generates revenue.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Website or in-app advertising
- Subscription fees
- One-time purchases
- Licensing fees
- Sponsorships
- Freemium models (free base product with paid upgrades)
- Paid access to your application, website, or digital platform
If your application or website generates revenue in any way, it is considered Commercial Use.
Important Clarification
Even if access to Bible content itself is free, your application is still considered commercial if users pay for any other feature or functionality within the same product.
For example:
- A free Bible-reading feature within a paid productivity app
- Scripture access inside an ad-supported platform
- A subscription-based app that includes Bible content among other features
In each of these cases, the overall product is monetized and therefore qualifies as commercial use.
