Understanding Your API.Bible Billing Cycle
API.Bible subscriptions renew monthly on a per-application basis. This article explains how your billing cycle works, what appears on your invoice, and when your API usage resets. For information on changing your plan, canceling, or handling overage charges, see the related articles listed at the bottom.
How the Billing Cycle Works
Your monthly billing cycle begins on the date your subscription is activated, typically when your first payment is successfully processed. It then renews automatically on the same calendar day each month.
Each API.Bible application has its own subscription and billing cycle. If you manage multiple apps, they may renew on different dates depending on when each subscription was created.
What's on Your Monthly Invoice
Your monthly invoice may include up to three line items:
- Base plan fee — the recurring subscription charge for your selected plan. For Starter plans, this amount is $0.
- Bible license add-ons — if you have licensed premium Bible translations, each one is billed as a separate line item on your subscription.
- Overage charges (Pro and Enterprise only) — if you have enabled overage protection and exceeded your monthly API limit, overage fees are calculated at the end of the billing period and added to your next invoice. See Overage Protection for details.
Note for Starter plan users: The Starter plan does not support overage. If you reach your monthly API limit, access will be paused until your cycle resets — you will not be charged extra.
API Call Count Reset
Your monthly API call count resets automatically at the start of each new billing period. Unused API calls do not roll over into the next billing period. Each billing cycle starts with a fresh allocation based on your plan.
You can monitor your current API usage at any time from your API.Bible Dashboard.
Subscription Statuses
Your app's status reflects the current state of its subscription. Here's what each status means for your API access:
|
Status |
What It Means |
API Access |
| Active | Subscription is in good standing and payment is current. | ✅ Enabled |
| Pending Payment | The subscription has been created, but the initial payment has not yet been successfully completed. | ❌ Not yet active |
| Unpaid | A renewal payment failed or the subscription is no longer in good standing due to non-payment. | ❌ Disabled |
| Suspended | The account has been temporarily suspended. | ❌ Disabled |
| Canceled | The subscription has ended. | ❌ Disabled |
If your status is Pending Payment or Unpaid, verify that your payment method is up to date and retry the payment if prompted. If the issue persists, contact support@api.bible.
